Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Hello,

I am renting a property house unit that the ulitilties are included in the rent and I have been here a year and paid my rent on time.. My question is this.. My water got cut off and there is no electric in the house ... The landlord hasnt paid the bill in a few months and is behind 2,400.00 in Pg&e so the gas got cut off. What can I do to get the gas turned back on..

See if you can get the utilities put in your name. Let the utility company go after the landlord for the unpaid bills. You might be required to post some kind of security deposit, though. Deduct the utilities from the rent, after sending the landlord a certified letter that that's what you'll be doing. More than likely, if the landlord can't pay the utilities, other bills also haven't been paid including, perhaps, the mortgage. It's not a great scenario.
