Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Multiple insurance carriers on P.I. case

I was hit head-on by a guy in March of this year and nearly killed. He was drunk. There was a small policy he had, and a much larger uninsured, or underinsured policy that my now-ex-wife had. The guy who hit me's small policy has paid, and now the large policy is being demanded by my lawyer. Ny question is, does the second policy owe and $$ to the first policy?

In short, if the first policy paid $20,000.....when the second $100,000 policy pays the policy limits in the near-future, will any of the larger policy have to go back and pay the first insurance company back?

Uninsured or under insured coverage pays for your damages resulting from an accident. Any amount paid by the insurance of the other driver is deducted from the amount to be paid. Also the maximum amount the under insured policy will pay is the policy limit.
