Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

first off I'm not sure if I selected the right area of law but this is about a Mesothelioma lawsuit.my adoptive mother allowed her year to file to run out she then filed for me about two years after my father (her husband) died. if you are a minor and your parent is your ad litem for a lawsuit do they have any rights to the money won in the case? also in the case it names me as the minor plaintiff and my ad litem (adoptive mother) as the plaintive/petitioner. my lawyer is now changing his story and is trying to say that the case isnt just mine wich completley contradicts what he has been saying all along...

Also I am no longer a minor I am 19 now.

No the money is yours to do what you wish as soon as you turn 18. If you wish to give some to her you can but she has no right to it
