Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

HOA - CCR's

I live on a 2 on a lot attached condo townhouse setup in Redondo Beach. I recently painted and changed out some defective wood to bring the townhome back to looking original in the original color scheme. The front unit was notified that I was going to paint the house (though in the same color scheme). The front unit began painting their unit soon after. They asked if the eeves can be painted a certain different way and we approved it. However, the front unit now has changed the color of the stucco and trim to 1 color of blue all over the exterior. The CCR's says they need to request in writing for structure change from uniformity, there was no notification verbal or written. When I told the owner last night of the CCR's she said so what and she was not changing the color back to the original scheme. What can I do? Can I force her to change back?

Yes, I think you can force them to change it back. I need to see the CC&Rs. You may contact me.

Re: HOA - CCR's

Your question is a bit confusing as to what the CCRs say. If there is only a limitation on the structural aspects, then it does not seem that the paint color can be controlled. Generally, though, CCRs cover color, landscaping, etc. Any attorney assisting your would need to see and review the CCRs first.
