Personal relationship

Does an employer have the right to put conditions on an

employees personal relationships. My employer is saying

things about my boyfriend and making it uncomfortable

for working.

The California labor commissioner has jurisdiction over claims of adverse employment action by an employer because of lawful off duty conduct. Labor code Section 96 (k). In addition, such comments may give rise to a claim of harassment on the basis of sex.

Unreasonable intrusion into your personal life, or unwanted attention of sexual nature, may give you a claim against the employer, but it obviously depends upon the facts and circumstances. You should consult an attorney specializing in handling employee rights matters.
