How long does a trustee need to keep the death certificate, will, and other trust documents?

You need to keep them as long as the Trust is still in existence and then some more years to be safe as to any suits or claims that you failed to distribute the assets correctly. If the decedent has an estate subject to probate that is greater than $100,000, you need to file the estate and Will with the court
