Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Mother passed away 4 years ago now probate in final process. Her son passed away who is to inherit his share but told me that I was to inherit his share of mothers estate. Nothing in writing. He was homless and in the hospital. I took him for 2 years and got him back on his feet. Now court wants documentation to inherit his share. What do we need. He has a son he hasn't seen for 5 years and son didn't want anything to do with him. Deceased is divorced.

If there is nothing in writing, the son probably inherits your brother's share of your mother's estate.
