Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Canada

My mother passed away in July 2008, I received a copy of the will in Sept 2008 but I have never received anything else from the estate. Should I have received a notice of grant or any other forms or information re: the will, being that I was named in the will.

You should have received Notice thsat someonw was applying for probate and a copy of the will. This is a requirement of the law. Ideally, you should have been kept nformed as to what was happening. Your first step is to contact the executor and ask what is happening. Ask for copies of the grant of probate and the affidavits filed in support of it. The reply will determine your next steps. At this stage, as you have apparently been kept in the dark, you should contact a lawyer. Thee are many good lawyers in the lower mainland; you can call the Canadian Bar Association lawyer referal service for a referral - they are listed in the phone book.
