Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

relocation

My spouse and I recently moved to Tx from Co and want to divorce. I am lost on which state and when we can do this.

2nd part is we rent a house in Tx together and I am moving out but dont trust him to pay...how do I keep from being legally obligated and off the lease. He refuses to move out even if the landlords let us out of the lease.

What are my options?

You should locate a Texas attorney reasonably close to your county of residence. You have created a legal and financial obligation under this lease. If the landlord will release you, then grab it.

Court orders in a divorce will address who has responsibility for different debts. Those orders, however, do not affect third parties, such as your landlord. He can look to both of you or either one of you to satisfy the terms of the lease. You should consult with an attorney before you make financial decisions that could have adverse consequences. TCL
