Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Colorado

If I, as a private contractor, develop an implementation of a probably patented algorithm for a client (who is in a country outside the US) and that client uses the implementation and does not pay a license fee (something beyond my control), am I liable for their misuse of the patent?

Ie, can they or the patent owner, come after me at some point in the future for the actions of the client?

There is not enough information here to know. It is possible that you could be liable for contributory infringement. I suggest you reduce your agreement to writing and include some important disclaimers and terms of service which could limit your exposure to liability. See a local attorney for help with this.
