Legal Question in Employment Law in Connecticut

Employer requests

I'm the office manager for a medical office. One physician is home recupperating from a surgery and has requested staff members to drop various items off at his house which is located two towns over from the office, at least a 1/2 hour drive with no company car. Is this unreasonable?

Re: Employer requests

It's not unreasonable if the trips are necessary to keep the business afloat and running and the items cannot be mailed. Your gas and depreciation should be expensed at the Federal Rate. I'm assuming the job descriptions do not include being required to run incidental errands.
