power of attoney

when my grandfather died my grandmother put me on her bank accounts so when the time came i could take care of her bills and such.well she needs the help and her friend took me off the account and opened a new one behind my back.she is recently in the first stages of alzheimers when her friend did this.was that legal for her to do when she did not have my permission to take my name off the account nor does she have any power of attorney for my grandma. thank-you

To a large extent, it depends on how much participation your grandmother hed in the account switch. But if she now is in need, you should go ASAP to the probate court to seek a conservatorship. The probate court will require the friend to turn over the money.
