Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in District of Columbia

Tenant Rights

We rent from renters not the owner. We have no lease. The living conditions are not habitable. (sp) We have no running water. We are to share the bathroom which is upstairs and the dog bit me. They do not control their animal. They raised the rent on us 3 months after moving in. The dog urinates upstairs on their floor and drips downstairs onto ours and our ceiling. We were given 10 days notice to move and now we are stuck. We are supposed to move Saturday but legally aren't we entitled to 60 days written notice? They have harassed us, called the police on us for no reason (no charges or write ups were made). They have broken into our place 3 times. They threaten us and we just really want more time to find a place and move. Please let me know what legal rights we have. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Re: Tenant Rights

Unless the 60 days you've mentioned is part of whatever agreement you may have had with these tenants who have sublet part of their tenancy to you, I know of no such requirement in law (that you must be given 60 days advance notice to move).
