Audio Taping

Is it illegal to Audio tape someone at your work? (doctors office) Is is ok that they audio record you speaking in your own office...but dont tell you they're taping you? Is it legal that they audio tape the waiting room with patients not knowing their being taped? please help!!

I have approved this question to give you an opportunity to further develop the facts. For now, it is enough to clarify that there are circumstances in which the recordings may be legal, specially if there is no expectation of privacy by the individuals being recorded, and the conversations recorded are those that may have been detected by the naked ear.

You should be more specific as to what are the reasons that lead you to the conclusion that, or that drive you to the question of whether, these recordings are illegal.
