Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

My father recently passed away as of March 6, 2009. He had credit cards in his name only that debt collection companys have been calling about. They have oferred my mother a reduced amount to pay off. She can not afford those amounts so has requested to keep sending an amount each month until they are paid off. They have agreed to that. Does she legally have to pay off these credit cards since her name is not on them? Can they come after the estate for the money,,,not quite sure what that would mean?

The above answer is correct. Send a cease and dissist letter. A sample of which can be found at my web site. Want to know the law? Sign up for our free newsletter on varies areas of the law by sending an email to [email protected] and requesting the newsletter, or go to www.ConsumerLawyerHelp.com.

Once you send the cease and dissist letter, ask for the return of any funds she sent as this was fraud and you could sue them.
