Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Needing an attorney

My 14 year old daughter is scheduled to meet with a detective tomorrow morning. Her 15 year old boyfriend and another boy are accused of shooting a 17 year old boy. There is a possibity that my daughter was used to try and lure the victim outside before the shooting. I am having trouble finding an attorney to represent her during the questioning. Or does she just need to talk to the detectives? Can I request a public defender to be present even if she isn't charged?

Yes she needs an attorney. She should not EVER speak to an attorney without counsel. I would be happy to discuss representation. I handle juvenile cases.

Sorry I meant she should never speak to police without counsel. Although I am from West Palm, I travel all over Florida for cases.

She should not speak to a detective at all, unless she has an attorney present. I can not emphasize that enough. You can always call the detective and reschedule for when you have an attorney. Tell the detective that you do not want her to talk to anyone until she is represented. Do not let the detective convince you that she does not need an attorney.

She will not be assigned a public defender unless she is arrested for a charge.

I practice in Jacksonville FL and can be reached at the email listed below.
