Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

VOP: Too long stay in jail

The lady was arrested early November. The reason seems the violation of probation as well as non payment of the court fee.

The court day is December 22, namely she has to stay in the County Jail for 50 days or so. Does she has to stay in the jail such a long days just to wait and see the Judge? I have paid off the court fee last week.

VOP case is like this: she missed the monthly appointment with the probation officer for July and August, however, she met with the officer Sept and Oct. The officer stated that not to worry about the missing If the July & August missing app. are the problem do the sheriff's office wait until November to arrest her? If that's not the case, then non-payment of the court fee will be the problem, I presume. However, I already did pay off the fee.

Do you think the case is that a big deal to let people stay in the jail for 50 days before appearing in the Circuit Court? How can I help her to get away from this trauma?

If you hire a lawyer, the lawyer may be able to get her case added on sooner.

I dont think you have all the facts. Sounds like her final vop hearing is set in december. She would have been offered a deal to resolve it earlier, and it was probably a bad offer which forced her to seek a hearing. I hope she has a good lawyer.
