Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Pre-employment background checks

In 1990 I was convicted of felony drug possession related to a nursing position I had. I have since cleaned up my act 100%. I am now working in Information Technology and, as I look for jobs in Florida, I see they ask, ''Have you ever been convicted of a felony?''

Isn't there a limit on how far back in time background checks go to where I can answer ''No'' to that question? If not, what are the pre-employment implications of this past conviction?

Also, is it ever possible to go back to a judge and ask to have the felony conviction reverted to something less, like a misdemeanor?

Thank you.

Re: Pre-employment background checks

You should investigate sealing or expunging your record. You need to talk with a lawyer to see if this is a possibility.
