Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Wrongfully accused,wrongfully jailed,slander of name

My husband was arrested for arson he did not do,they held him in jail for 43 days without ever seeing a judge, they slandered his name on news and paper, just last week i found out they dropped charges and closed case because they had no evidence,so why did they hold him in jail for 43 days with no evidence? There was a video, but you couldnt see the mans face on it;they just picked him up because someone who didnt like him said that he did it.Is that wrong or what?He talked to Noone concerning his case the whole time he was locked up,he just sat in there knowing nothing.I believe a lawsuit is in order,we lost alot of money while he was in there and our family went through so much heck, traveling to visit him, sending him money, the kids were upset, and just the wrongness of it.I have lost faith in our law enforcement. Please tell me if I should file a lawsuit.
