Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I have a 2 1/2 year old son with an ex who I was never married to. Since birth he has always lived with me. His father and I only have a verbal agreement on visitation, nothing through the courts. If I consider relocating out of the state for work, will I need to file any paperwork? Also, can he file anything that stops me from going? Currently he pays no support even though he has been ordered too, and if I need to move to better my career for my child, then I need to know what steps I need to take.

Without a visitation schedule in place in the courts, you do not need to file for a court order to leave the state. The child support I have to assume (since you did not state) is that it was ordered through the Dept of Revenue Child Support Division. If that is the case, then he is obligated to pay and can be made to continue to pay in any state.
