Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

What age can a child legally not visit their noncustodial parent? My dad says that he. Has to pay child support until I'm 19 and therefore I have to visit him until I'm 19. I'm almost 17 by the way. Are there any exceptions or loopholes so j can stop now.

You can petition to the court for a hearing on the matter. If your father is being ugly - ie not letting you attend planned events, or exposing you to uncomfortable situations, then there is a possibility that the judge will allow for a lesser visitation or eliminate the visitation. Child support and visitation are two separate things. He will continue to pay the child support whether you visit or not. The support is for the maintenance and up bringing which is distributed between him and your mother and required by the court under the Florida Statutes.
