Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

my ex who i had a baby with hasnt been in the babys life since he was born and he is now 1 years old, but now my ex is trying to get equal custody. My question is can he get equal custody being on probation for 7 felonies and 3 misnomers, he also parties almost every night and i think may be on drugs. He has also threaten to kill my fiance which i reported so i have it on record. What are my options?

Were you married or was the child born outside of wedlock? If the later he has no legal rights to the minor child. Under Florida law you are the natural guardian of the child and can do what you think is in the child's best interest. The Father has to take a number of steps to attempt to gain any rights to the minor child. If you have been served papers retain an attorney and contest the custody.
