Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

If we need to consult with DCF but will be getting visitations filed through the courts within the next week will it look bad to wait to consult with DCF? The mother of my daughter kept her from me for a year and a half so I really don’t want to miss out on my chances to have my visits but I’m really concerned for my daughters wellbeing
