i am filing for a divorce in Florida but my wife already left the state back to hawaii. If we have to go to court, how does that work? We also have a child on the way. If the child was born in hawaii and we are getting a divorce in florida, where would child custody court take place?

You can get your marriage legally dissolved in Florida, but the issue of time share ("custody") must be litigated in Hawaii.

Since the child is not yet born the issue of divorce can be done in FL but custody has to be done in Hawaii.
