Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

guardian

How can we become my niece's leagal gaurdians? My husband's sister passaway and her x-husband is willing to give us gaurdian. We leave in Florida. Can we just get a notorized letter saying he gives us gaurdian? We want to add her to our Insurence plan. She lives with us now for 2months

Re: guardian

A notarized letter won't work, but her ex-husband may be able to give you a power of attorney.

If that doesn't work, you have two choices:

1) adopt her (the right way to do it)

2) file a guardianship lawsuit (not really the way it's supposed to be done, but since it works that way in a lot of states, lawyers, principals, teachers, doctors, and others in Florida think it's okay)
