Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I live in florida and I signed the birth certificate of a baby I knew was not mine and now my girlfriend broke up with me after ten months, what are my legal rights as far as seeing the baby and child support? She went back with the babies biological father.

If you did not marry the girlfriend, you have no rights to see the child unless you file a Petition for visitation and child support with the court. As it stands right now unless you dispute that this child is yours you will be legally responsible for child support. I suggest you contact a Family Law Attorney and petition for a paternity test to prove that you are not the father and remove your name from the child's birth certificate. Years down the road, you could be liable for payment and it will ruin your life. Good luck. Sorry you go into such a mess, I am sure you love this child - babies are wonderful, but you must protect yourself too!
