can a parent force there teen to play a sport?

Not legally, a judge is unlikely to enforce that or get involved. But a parent can exert pressure in many ways (ie., if you don't play X sport, I'll take away yor phone, your car, your ipod, whatever!). And THAT a parent CAN do.

I don't see how. Why would someone waste time and effort forcing another to plat sports, read a book, go fishing? No.
