Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

How do I go about suing an ex boyfriend for money owed to me but i t was almost 5 years ago. We have an eviction in both of our names and a credit card bill in my name I used to pay the rent when we did live there. I just want him to pay his half so I can get it off my credit.

The problem is that there is a 5 year statute of limitations on contracts. You probably only had a verbal contract, and with that you must sue within 6 months. He may not know either of these legal principles and you can spend about $340 to file a small claims action and have him served. You stand the chance of losing this money that must be paid just to sue him. But, you could possibly get a stipulation that he pays you.
