Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Are we owed our salary?

My boyfriend and I work for the same business. He is the manager and I deal with the customers. We were supposed to be closed for 9 days for renovations to the building and for new equipment to be installed. We have now been out of work for almost 30 days because things are ''taking longer than expected''. We are both on salary. We have not been paid for this time period. Our boss doesn't think he should pay us, and he isn't going to. Is he supposed to pay us? We are on salary. We only get paid every other week and by the time we get another paycheck, our mortgage company may have started forclosure on our house. We had no notice of such a long closure and weren't prepared for it financially. If he is supposed to have paid us, and we lose our home because of him, can we sue? Our cell phone & sattelite services are about to get shut off, thus violating our contracts, thus more debt is created. Hopefully, our electric doesn't get shut off. This is really causing a huge problem. Any advice or insight would be very helpful. Thank you.

Re: Are we owed our salary?

The answer is--unfortunately no. I would suggest IMMEDIATEDLY filing for unemployment benefits because the law does not require that you paid anything under the circumstances.
