Lien Placed on House

I own a house and rent it out. The renter contracted with a pest control company. Then did not pay. The Pest control company placed a lien on my home.

You have various alternatives.

1. Do nothing

2. Bring action to vacate lien.

3. Pay the bill and sue and/or evict your tenant.

Typically the owner of the home is responsible for pest control. (Depending on the type of pests and what the lease states) See Fla.Stat. 83.51 which states that the landlord must "...comply with the requirements of applicable building, housing, and health codes...[and]unless otherwise agreed in writing...the landlord...make reasonable provisions for...The extermination of rats, mice, roaches, ants, wood-destroying organisms, and bedbugs."

The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services oversees these regulation's.
