Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

I was in a car accident a few years ago. I've recently heard that the person who caused the accident's insurance company was supposed to pay my lawyer fees. We didn't know this at the time, so when I got my settlement, the lawyer's fees were taken out of my settlement. Please advise. Thank you, Christine Gilliam

Unless there is an agreement to the contrary, you pay your own lawyer. The other person's carrier is not responsible for doing so except in some veryu unique circumstances which are not apparent from your question.

Unless you have an agreement or court order, what you heard is not correct.
