Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Florida

Having to listen to raw sex talk.

Does an employee have to listen to raw comments made by other employees and supervisor. Comments that are made are XXX rated. My supervisor, who is part of it also said ''I hope you are not offended by our talk'' Being my fist week on the job replied that ''I was, I was there to work, do my job and go home, not listen to filth''. This continues to be a problem. I have to be around all these people..I can not seclude myself from them. Any suggestions.I am a professional person and do not participate in such conversation and I find it very offensive. PS I am there through a temp agency.

Re: Having to listen to raw sex talk.

I think you can expect to hear the odd comment in bad taste in any workplace but that you should not be subjected to XXX rated sex talk on any thing approaching a regular basis at work. You do not say how large the company is and so I do not know if federal laws apply to your situation. I would register my objections with both my employer (which you have done) and with the temp agency; they both have an obligation to see that your workplace is free from harassment.
