Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

I was pulled over and written a ticket for Failure to register motor vehicle over a year ago. I was given the vehicle by a friend 2 weeks prior to being given the ticket. I no longer have the title/bill of sale as I sold the car to a salvage yard. Because I reside in FL, this offense is a misdemeanor traffic violation, and I was required to appear in court. I showed up to court on the date written on the ticket and was given the option to participate in a diversion program, in which I was required to pay $400 and show up to a 10 hour work day. I had no money to pay the court costs after paying the ticket, and couldn't finish the diversion program. Now I have a warrant for my arrest, and I have no proof of when I was given the vehicle to fight the fact that I didn't register the vehicle in time. Is there any way to fight this? Or, am I going to have to swallow my pride and fork up a grand to our money hungry government? Thanks for your help!

You either hire an attorney or pay the government. Hiring an attorney seems to be the better investment so you should at least talk to one and discuss your case in more detail.
