Legal Question in Workers Comp in Florida

Worker's Comp refuses to speak to me.

My fiance was injusred last week at work, he was released from the hospital on Friday, I tried helping his mother schedule appoinments for the numorous doctors he will need to see the next two weeks, the Field nurse that I spoke with advised his mother that Woker's Comp stated that she is not to discuss anything with me since I am not family. His mother is foreign and needs my help. Is this legal?? Can he call them and give them permission to speak with me??

Yes, have your fiance sign a letter authorizing you and the nurse to speak to each other.

Make sure the "field Nurse" doesn't interfere with your fiance's care. The nurse should not attend any doctor appointments. None. Never. They have the right to schedule their own appointments with the doctors and pay them for the conference but they are not allowed to sit in on the time that the doctor is giving your fiance or to suggest to the doctor how he should treat or for how long. Tell the doctors that if the case manager wants to talk to him to record the conversation on his dictating machine. If the case manager won't consent to a recording, tell the doctor he doesn't have to talk to them at all. Don't trust the nurse case manager at all. That person is working only for the insurnace company and not for the patient, no matter what they say to the contrary.
