Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

62 Counts of Theft by Deception/Forgery

I am 25, a former cop and have NEVER been in trouble in my LIFE. I went to work for a man, helping him with his books (making sure he paid everything on time) and appraising real estate on the side. During the course of working for him it is revealed that he is a paranoid schizophrenic and goes into manic episodes here and there. The man was literally showing up at my home all hours of the day and night as well as calling and we are talking well after midnight knowing that I have small children. He also has a fetish with young girls. (He is 59). Long story short, he has accused me of stealing checks from his company and FORGING his name, even though I have NEVER signed his name in my life!! He's also told authorities that I am NOT an appraiser and have NEVER appraised for his company which is completely ludicrous! I was arrested for this....31 counts of Forgery/31 Counts of Theft by Deception and my bond was $229,000!!!!!!! Now, my name has been smeared across the front page of newspapers and even THEY are lieing in their reports, I'm completely RUINED!!

You didn't really ask a question. Nor did you say where the money ended up (your bank account..somebody else's?). If it can't be traced to your bank account, you can probably win this case fairly easily with the assistance of a handwriting expert. But the charges are too serious to not hire a criminal lawyer immediately. You can e-mail me at [email protected] with more details if you wish.

I'm not sure what exact question you are asking, but I would strongly recommend hiring local counsel to deal with the forgery/theft charges and a potential defamation claim against your former employer.

If you would like to discuss any issues further, please feel free to contact my office. My contact information is below. Thank you.
