Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Child Custody/Child Support

My husbands ex-wife recently agreed to let my two stepsons live with us (they are enrolled in school). We are still paying her child support for the boys that live with us! She and my husband share (joint) custody (she has sole custody). How can we legally stop paying child support and change the custody so that she cannot take them away from us?

You need to retain a lawyer and file for a change of custody.

You will need to file a modification of the divorce decree. It is best if you get an attorney to go through the original decree and file this. The good news is that, after your husband gets custody, she should be ordered to pay him child support.
