Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Some years ago I had a "friend with benefits". Our "friendship" lasted for almost two yrs and resulted in the birth of her now, 4 yr old daughter, whom I believe to be mine. But during our "friendship" she was also in an on and off again relationship, which ended ours and resulted in a marriage for her. The child was given her husband's last name and he also signed the birth certificate. And he may believe the child is his also. She has allowed me to see this child and sent numerous photos comparing the two of us. But she has not allowed me any further visitation rights in fear that it may damage the relationship with her husband. I want to be a part of this child's life if she is in fact mine, how do I go about pursuing this?

Absent the mother's cooperation, you would need to hire an attorney, file a court petition and sue the mother. In addition to the legal fees, you'd obviously incur the medical fees for paternity testing.

You have to decide, given the uncertainty as to the outcome, whether the expense and effort are something you want to pursue.
