Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

lawsuit won by seperated wife

My wife, whom I am seperated from, because she cleared out the house while I was at work, and I have not seen her in 4 years, recently won a lawsuit from a car accident that occured while we were together. I was the only provider for her and her children for two to three years after the accident. We also filed for bankruptcy in 2000 to clear up debt that was soley hers. My question is, how do I go about, or can I recoup monies from the bankruptcy before I file for divorce?

Re: lawsuit won by seperated wife

Your post is not clear. What "monies" from the bankruptcy? If you are asking about getting paid back from supporting her and the children, normally you can't recover money/support you willingly chose to provide someone. It MAY be somewhat relevant in a divorce/property division. Since you indicate you are filing for divorce, this is something to discuss with a lawyer who may handle the case.
