Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

I was hired to be the public address announcer for a swim meet at Emory University

today. I get paid $35 for this. I arrived to work and they

told me that I had been replaced because they flew

someone else in for this. Assignments are given on a

sign-up basis and I was signed-up for this meet for 3

months. I cleared my schedule for it and was committed

to them for 3 months. They are telling me that I will not get

paid because I did not work. I tell them that I showed up to

work and it was their fault that I did not work. This also

pertains to 3 other meets this week. If I have a leg to

stand on with those, I will fight for my salary there, but I

am not sure if I am entitled considering I did not show up

first. Am I entitled to my pay for today's meet that I showed up for? How about the other 3 that I was committed to for 3 months? Thank you for your help.

What is it worth for a $35 issue? How much time and energy, for you and a small claims court? Ever want to work for them again? Those are much more important questions. Fight all you want with the school, but don't turn it into a legal issue.
