Do noncompete rules apply if terminated?

Assuming you were an employee, unless there is a written agreement to the contrary, you are generally not under a duty to refrain from competing with your former employee. However, depending on your situation, there are still some laws that probably apply, such as trade secret and other intellectual property protections.
