What exactly is a warranty deed and why would a real estate agent ask for one prior to selling my home?

The warranty deed is your proof of ownership; hence, it signifies that you have the power to sell the house. You should have received the warranty deed in your real estate closing documents. Please do not hesitate to contact my office if you require assistance tracking the deed down.

The best person to answer that question is the agent. You do not need to hire a lawyer to get a deed. You should have a copy, but if you do not you can go to the county real estate records office and they may help you do a search, or go online at www.gsccca.org and print a copy for a charge of less than $20.
