Legal Question in Workers Comp in Georgia

We have 3 employees. One of them hurt themselves at work. The bills have been sent to us, although, we never agreed to pay anything. We were under the impression that we did not have to have worker's comp or have to pay medical bills for this ex-employee if we had 3 or less employees. Please advise me...

Laws related to the maximum number of employees that you can have without participating in workers compensation do not necessarily relieve you from the obligation to accept responsiblility for expenses incurred by employees who are injured during the course of working for you.
