Legal Question in Traffic Law in Hawaii

I got cited for three different no-insurance violations in three different cars. The first two were borrowed and I own the third, for which I bought a six month policy to present at first court appearance. The judge is now

saying that I must prove that these cars are ... Legal or off the road ..? So I must account for these two cars that belonged to people I am unable to locate. I cannot find these cars to Prove anything, so how can I avoid a year's license suspension and the $1500 fine ??

I am not aware of any obligation for you to show that a vehicle you drove is now insured.

The prosecutor can usually dismiss the first offense based on a "good faith" defense. For the second offense, you can avoid the fine and suspension if your lawyer can negotiate dismissal in exchange for your plea to the third offense as a first offense. Alternatively, you can schedule the case for trial and see if the officer even come to court.
