Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Ex-employer is a debtor

Hello,

I worked for this transportation company for 7-8 months. I left after I gave them more than a 2-months notice and I've been pretty loyal to them in general. They still owe me over $4,000. It's been over a month. They would not answer my phone calls. I left them a voicemail several times. I suspect the company is somewhat shaky and they might file for bankruptcy anytime soon, if they haven't already. So what are my options, is there a hope to get my money? Thank you.

Contact the Illinois Department of Labor Fair Labor Standards Division, or an attorney, or both. The employer would likely be liable for any attorney's fees you incur trying to collect your wages.
