Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

How can I get my name off a student loan-that is not my student. The mother was to pay off 4 years ago and she keeps givng me excuses as to why she cannot when she promised to pay it December of 2008.

How did your name get on it. If you signed the papers your name stays on until it is paid off.

Not sure I understand the question. Were you a co-signer? If so, you are on the hook for the loan. You may be able to sue the other person directly, but that would depend on the circumstances.
