Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I am the custodial parent. My son is 8, his father has never been part of his life by his choice. I am in the middle of a support case with him, thru the state of Illinois on my sons behalf. I received a promotion, but being relocated to Iowa. Do I have to notify the father if he is not in his life? Is there any law in Illinois restricting me to move to another state?

Yes - you can not leave the state without his consent or an order of court. The law requires that you file a petition seeking leave to relocate.
Perhaps you should provide a bit more information, such as, is this a parentage case, or were you married to the father of your child? Is there a visitation order in place? It is difficult to provide a definite answer without additional information.
