Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Order of Protection Modifications?

Is there a difference between an OP and a Civil Restraining Order? What is the benefit of modifying an OP so that contact can be made between 2 parties both in counseling and by phone/in person instead of filing a Civil Restraining Order if there is a difference?

Re: Order of Protection Modifications?

There are two types of OP's an emergency for 12 days and a plenary which lasts two years..........which are you referring to? You could always incorporate terms into the agreement that could cover items covered in the Civil Restraining order......and if violated you could have a contempt of court issue.
