Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

I borrowed money from a friend, signed a promissory note and have been making regular payments. They are now trying to sue me in court for a judgement. Can they do that if all payment are paid current and all in a timely manner?

It depends on what your promissory note says. The complaint has to allege that you have been late on payments or are now in default--If you have never been late on payments and have paid exactly as written under the Note, then you should go in Court and defend yourself against the entry of a judgment based on the fact that have never been and are not now in default.
