Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Inappropriate behavior of manager

I'm a surgical tech and during a case we were having some technical difficulty. My manager became frustrated with the situation, told the surgon I was ''being a snot,'' and then slapped me on the back as she walked out of the room. There were five other people who heard her remark and one that saw her hit me. We don't have a human resources department I can go to. I'm just wondering if there is anything that I can legally do about the situation. She never should have touched me.

Re: Inappropriate behavior of manager

You are absolutely right, the manager had no right to put her hands on you.

You can file a lawsuit against her for slander and defamation of character. The touching was offensive and you should make a police report and take it to the office of your county's state's attorney and ask that office to prosecute the manager for assault. I suggests that you take immediate action to protect yourself.

Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
