Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

A former roommate locks you out and will not allow you to retrieve your personal items verbal agreement. a space for being a caregiver for invalid mother of roommate,no monetary exchange except where mother is concerned, yet never recieved. how does one retrieve personal items,when not even the police can enter the apartment?

File a suit for conversion and wrongful eviction. Since you were a tenant in a sense, an argument can be made that a month to month agreement existed and therefore he should have given you 30 days notice.
